Description

The Miró Quartet is one of America’s most celebrated and dedicated string quartets, having been labeled by The New Yorker as “furiously committed” and noted by the Cleveland Plain Dealer for its “exceptional tonal focus and interpretive intensity.” For over twenty-five years the Quartet has performed throughout the world on the most prestigious concert stages, earning accolades from critics and audiences alike. Miró is the quartet-in-residence at the University of Texas at Austin and recipients of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant.

Daniel Ching is a founding member of the internationally acclaimed Miró Quartet and Professor of Practice in Violin at the University of Texas at Austin's Butler School of Music. A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music, Ching has built an international reputation as both a performer and educator. In addition to his work with the Miró Quartet, he has studied conducting, recording engineering, and music production, helping shape the ensemble's distinctive artistic voice. He continues to perform extensively around the world while inspiring students through his teaching and mentorship at UT Austin.

William Fedkenheuer is a two-time Grammy-nominated violinist, internationally respected chamber musician, and Professor of Practice in Violin and Chamber Music at the University of Texas at Austin's Butler School of Music. A member of the acclaimed Miró Quartet and incoming Artistic Director of the Toronto Summer Music Festival, he has performed at many of the world's leading venues, including Carnegie Hall, Suntory Hall, and the Library of Congress. Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Fedkenheuer began his musical career as a Canadian National Fiddle Champion and made his solo debut with the Calgary Philharmonic at age 17. In addition to his extensive performing and recording career, which includes the Grammy-nominated albums Home and House of Belonging, he is a dedicated educator who mentors emerging artists through UT Austin's Young Professional String Quartet Program and his work with the Miró Quartet.

After studies at the Curtis Institute of Music and Yale University, he performed throughout North America with the Colorado String Quartet and served as Principal Violist of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra before joining the Miró Quartet in 1997. An accomplished performer, educator, and advocate for chamber music, Largess is also a sought-after speaker and writer on the art of chamber music. His diverse interests in archaeology, languages, and wellness enrich his work as both a musician and mentor, inspiring audiences and students through performance, teaching, and artistic leadership.
