Department of Neuroscience faculty investigate the central and peripheral nervous system, making discoveries using molecular, cellular, behavioral and computational research techniques. The Department is particularly well represented in research areas including learning and memory, substance use disorders and perceptual systems. Faculty members here make up one of the largest concentrations of scientists studying in these areas nationally.
Faculty are highly collaborative with many joint research projects with other faculty on campus and throughout the country.
Neuroscience faculty also have secured four NIH training grants—one of the most prestigious graduate student and postdoc training programs in the country.
