Description
Dr. Jill Bettinger is a professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth University.
The processes of learning and memory can be shaped by internal and external contextual cues. State-dependent learning occurs when learning happens while the subject is in a specific altered internal state (e.g. intoxication) and the memory is only recalled when the subject is in the same internal state. This work aims to develop a molecular understanding of how state is encoded and how it modulates the processes of learning and remembering.
