Featuring:
Nicole Parker (Cellist): Nicole Parker is a cellist and student of music at the University of Texas at Austin, where she performs with the UT Symphony Orchestra and studies a wide range of solo and chamber repertoire. She has appeared in performances at Bates Recital Hall and attended the Rocky Ridge Music Festival in Colorado. Nicole enjoys collaborating in chamber music settings, especially with her string quartet, and is passionate about sharing music with new audiences.
Reese Chen (Violist): Ying-Chen Reese Chen is a Taiwanese violist currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at the University of Texas at Austin, where she studies with John Largess of the Miró Quartet. She has performed as a substitute viola with Taipei Symphony Orchestra and Taiwan Philharmonic Orchestra (NSO). Her festival appearances include Aspen Music Festival and School, Seiji Ozawa Academy (Japan), Kirishima International Music Festival (Japan), Asian Youth Orchestra (Hong Kong), and Great Mountains Music Festival and School (Korea).
Misa Stanton (1st violin): Misa Stanton is from Colorado and a junior at the University of Texas at Austin, studying with Sandy Yamamoto. She began her violin studies at the age of three, and her previous teachers include James Maurer, Jacqueline Maurer, and Christine Rewoliski. Misa made her solo debut in 2013 with the Littleton Symphony Orchestra. Since then, she has soloed with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, the Lakewood Symphony Orchestra, the Broomfield Symphony Orchestra, and the Colorado Young Sinfonia. She has performed as the concertmaster of the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra, and as a chamber musician, she has been featured on Colorado Public Radio Classical. In recent summers, she has attended music festivals including the Sarasota Music Festival, Encore Chamber Music Institute's Quartet Intensive and Summer Academy, and Madeline Island Chamber Music. Aside from violin, she enjoys skiing, playing strategy board games, and trying new restaurants.
Wai Shan (Yvonne) Ma (2nd violin): Wai Shan (Yvonne) Ma, a Hong Kong born violinist, is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Texas at Austin under the guidance of Sandy Yamamoto. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and her Master’s degree from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. She has won numerous prizes, including First Prize in the New York International Young Musician Competition, and is a laureate of competitions across the U.S., Hong Kong, and China. Her festival appearances include Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, Meadowmount School of music, and Bowdoin Music Festival. Ma currently holds the position of Section Violinist with the Central Texas Orchestra and the Austin Opera Orchestra and performs regularly with the Austin Symphony.
