Musical Memories - Claire Chiang

Claire Chiang, an avid soloist and chamber musician, has performed internationally and in the United States as a frequent prize winner of solo and concerto competitions. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance with Anton Nel at the Butler School of Music, where she has been nominated by the school for the 2026 Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award.

She began learning the piano at age four in Plano, TX, and has since garnered many awards around the country. Her most recent concerto performance was with the UT Symphony Orchestra as the first undergraduate student in more than a decade to win the Butler School of Music Piano Concerto Competition. Other honors include performing with the Lewisville Lake Symphony, Plano Symphony Orchestra, and Coeur d’Alene Symphony, as well as performing the opening concert at the Centennial Celebration of the China Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Culture in Taiwan (established by President Coolidge in 1924). 

In addition to pursuing her music studies, Claire recently graduated in May 2025 from UT Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with Highest Honors. She is also actively involved in teaching both piano and science, conducting neuroscience research, and performing in community outreach concerts. After graduating with her two degrees, she will attend medical school in the fall.
