Description
Dr. Nii Addy is a professor of Psychiatry at Yale University.
Dr. Addy will present his team’s recent research findings on the neurobiological underpinnings of substance use and mood disorders. He will focus on preclinical investigations identifying circuit-specific L-type calcium channel mechanisms regulating motivated behaviors, particularly in the context of substance use and misuse, and in responses to stress and anxiety. Dr. Addy will also describe his ongoing work examining novel pharmacotherapeutic targets for comorbid substance use and mood disorders. Finally, Dr. Addy will discuss his public facing, science communication and mental health advocacy work, where he integrates insights from neuroscience and psychology with considerations of faith, culture, and social justice.
Hosted by Dr. Lauren Dobbs
