Life Long Learning with Friends & Red River Ensemble receive Moritz Center Projects for Societal Impact (PSI) Program Grant!
Congratulations to the Life Long Learning with Friends continuing education program and the Red River Ensemble on receiving a grant through the Moritz Center Projects for Societal Impact (PSI) Program to support EMBRACE: Engaging Music for Belonging, Relationships, and Access in Community Environments!
The Moritz Center Projects for Societal Impact Program provides grants to help pilot or test promising research related to its focus areas of housing, behavioral health, children and family health, aging, and support for individuals with disabilities.
EMBRACE is a music-based intervention that may offer a promising translational strategy to address the socio-emotional need of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs), needs while fostering meaningful connection with others. EMBRACE will partner with Life Long Learning with Friends to pair adults with IDDs with UT student musicians from the Red River Ensemble. This project will evaluate changes in social-emotional functioning of participants with IDDs using psychometric and physiologically validated measures, as well as document bidirectional learning outcomes for neurotypical musicians.
